#1 – Develop Your Own Identity

Focus on personal growth and developing a strong relationship with God. Cultivate your own interests, talents, and character. This will not only make you more attractive as a person, but also allow you to bring more to a relationship. Matthew 6:33 says “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

#2 – Maintain Boundaries and Purity

Set healthy boundaries in your relationship to honor God and protect one another. Maintain purity in your thoughts, words, and actions. Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

#3 – Cultivate Trust and Honesty

Foster an environment of trust and open communication in your relationship. Be honest with one another, sharing your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Ephesians 4:25 says “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with their neighbor, for we are members each another.”

#4 – Practice Effective Communication

Communication is vital in any relationship. Seek to understand and listen to one another with empathy and compassion. Choose your words wisely and speak in a way that builds each other up. Colossians 4:6 says: “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”

#5 – Seek Wise Counsel

Involve trusted mentors or spiritual leaders who can provide guidance and support in your relationship. Seek wisdom from those who align with God's Word. Proverbs 11:14 says: “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors, there is safety.”
